David Swindler is an award-winning landscape and wildlife photographer. He has been recognized by the International Photography Awards, Siena International Photo Awards, Sony World Photography Awards, International Landscape Photographer of the Year and National Geographic, among others.
David earned a degree in chemical engineering and worked in the semiconductor industry specializing in optics and photolithography. In 2014 he left his day job to follow his true passion. He has traveled to some of the most remote regions of the world and has extensive experience photographing a wide variety of subjects and conditions.
As the founder of Action Photo Tours, David finds great satisfaction in helping others learn photography, especially in the wild desert environment near his home in Kanab, Utah. He is an expert in night photography and loves to get out and shoot the starry night skies.

Time-Lapse: A Practical Approach
With 5 billion images uploaded to the internet every day, how do you make yours stand out? One way is to do more video!
Video is the wave of the future as social media platforms are prioritizing dynamic content over still images. During this presentation, David Swindler will walk you through an easy and practical method to do night time-lapse video. This method does not require lots of extra gear, complicated setups nor extensive experience.
You will learn the basics behind shooting a time-lapse sequence, starting with gear and in-field shooting techniques. Next, we’ll take with those images to the computer and do live-edit workflow. By the end, you’ll see how simple it is to create a stunning time-lapse sequence.
