Erik is the vice president of operations for KelbyOne, as well as a photography trainer and a passionate rocket launch photographer.
His goal is to create images that help educate people about the space industry and inspire them to learn more about the beauty of space exploration.
Erik’s passion was ignited in 2015 by seeing the SpaceX Falcon 9 booster land successfully. He felt like from that moment, he had to be part of documenting and capturing the beauty and inspiration of spaceflight and has never looked back.
He's also an avid Milky Way landscape photographer and a PhotoPills addict.
Erik’s Presentation
The Dark Side of Rocket Photography
In this session we'll look at an emerging space in Spaceflight photography in which we can photograph rockets and even orbiting vehicles such as the International Space Station, based from locations available to everyone, with gear most night photographers already own. We'll even look at a new type of photography wherein we can capture gas emissions of the rockets in the upper atmosphere, which appear to look like deep space nebulas or underwater florescent sea creatures. We'll also discuss how to capture the holy grail of rocket photography, the rocket streak—the entire launch to orbit in a single frame. Best yet, anyone can do it!
