Alyn Wallace is an astro-landscape photographer based near the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, U.K. His work has been featured by the likes of National Geographic, NASA and BBC Earth, and he was recently announced as the winner of the “Landscapes at Night” category for Landscape Photographer of the Year 2020.

Alyn is the creator of the Starglow filter, which makes constellations stand out in images, and he is also the designer of the Z and V mounts, which were designed for panoramic work on star trackers but have a multitude of uses.

Now a full-time professional, Alyn travels the world on his quest to capture the darkest skies and most otherworldly landscapes, and he shares his adventures and knowledge on his YouTube channel. His book Photographing the Night Sky is due to be published by fotoVUE worldwide in May 2022.

Keynote: Milky Way Season Is A Lie

© Alyn Wallace

With a quick Google search into Milky Way photography, you will undoubtedly come across the term “Milky Way Season” and how you can see the Milky Way only between March and September. But this refers only to the galactic core of the Milky Way, a very small section of it.

This is why Alyn Wallace prefers the term “Milky Way Core Season.” And it’s not the only time of year you can shoot our galaxy. There are parts of the Milky Way that you can see year-round that are just as worthy of being photographed.

In this keynote presentation, allow Alyn to introduce you to all of the other regions of the Milky Way, and to explain when and where is best to photograph them.
